As a consumer of her own products, the madame has tested many products and changed numerous vendors to get the perfect ones. CEO and founder Mercedes was able to birth Crowned by the Madame Wig Collection as well as Royal Goddess Lashes and LuxciousLips with less than $3,000.
Growing up, Mercedes never actually knew what she wanted to be in life. As a child, she wanted to become a teacher. During her teenage years, she was sure she was going to be a model. Modeling in school and church fashion shows, and with the love of taking pictures, America"s Next Top Model here she come. Of course that dream wasn't fulfilled. In high school, she took fashion design combining her love for fashion with her talent of drawing. However, her hate for drawing overpowered.
After high school, Mercedes was forced to do her own hair since her oldest sister no longer lived in NY. Still, she had no plan in becoming a hairstylist. In 2013, Mercedes enrolled into Kingsborough Community College majoring in mental health (psychology). Only to drop out before even completing a full semester. Sill doing her own hair, friends and family began to ask her to do theirs as well. Seeing everyone's reaction, Mercedes began to practice more styles on her sisters and friends. As the years pass, more people began to go to Mercedes for their hair. Her most loved hairstyle was her feathered side bang sew in. At the time she was only charging $20 for her sew in, but her clients began to tell her her work was worth way more.
Fast forward to January 2018, her fiance persuaded her to take her talents to the next level and finally enroll in cosmetology school. In September 2018, Mercedes graduated Empire beauty school where she learned much more than what she went in knowing.
After cosmetology school, Mercedes was able to finally give birth to her dream, Madame M. Hair; Madame meaning head lady in charge and the M, standing for Mercedes. Mercedes specializes in hair weave extensions, but is a cosmetologist first! Combining her love for wigs, eyelashes, and lip gloss, she decided to launch a wig collection as well as a mink lash collection. Our clients are more than just customers but are family.
